Firstly, a couple of miscellany related to AI accusations/appeals.
- Various staff and non-staff users maintained that this artist was suspicious months before this formal investigation was started, but due to various internal factors deletions were not yet processed; even some of Mouldirou's third-party uploaders were adding ai generated background at the point of upload.
- This artist has not performed any first-party appeals; every source file/WIP that e621 staff has seen was submitted by a commissioner.
Mouldirou's posts were raised as part of bringing up old post flags for mass review. Lafcadio immediately pointed out that there was a high amount of noise consistent with AI generated images, and several blurry body parts that lacked touchups in some posts but not others. post #5525955 also featured the addition of a golden neck chain that was highly inconsistent with the rest of the image: simplistic coloring, and a complete lack of any linework from an artist who normally makes decent use of lineart; Lafcadio concluded the chain would've been added in post after generating the source AI image.
The staff additionally concluded that there were several other similarities with previous artists deleted for tracing AI, and their current works were not similar to the images from Fur Affinity and VKontakte that preceded furry AI image generation. The natural conclusion was that their style had changed because their basic workflow had changed.
In response to a pattern of public accusations, a commissioner uploaded post #5731558; in response to the various comments and the commissioner describing the finished lineart as a "sketch", Lafcadio finalized the deletions related to these artists and provided a public statement.
Since 2025-07-30, a handful of attempts were made by commissioners to upload more of Mouldirou's work, and no staff members have been notified of any first-party appeal attempts.
