Topic: How would I tag my use of 3D in my artwork?

Posted under Tag/Wiki Projects and Questions

I've started using painted over 3D renders as backgrounds for my artwork and I think it's been a great help for me. I only have one drawing uploaded with one of these backgrounds as of writing this, (Well technically I did another one back in October of last year, but that was more of a test.), but I have some more ready to upload soon.

I just wanted to know, is there a specific way I should be tagging this sort of thing? Or does this even need to be tagged at all?

I've seen the tag 3d_background but most of the posts under that look like they use completely 3D rendered backgrounds, mine are almost entirely painted over and, (At least to me), just look like normal digital paintings.

Also if you're curious about what the raw 3D render looked like before I painted over it, I have a GIF that shows the whole process I went through making the drawing here: https://www.furaffinity.net/view/64040730/

If I came across it on my own I'd just use detailed_background. You could maybe also use mixed_media, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

I think I agree that with painting over the 3D background to make it look like it's all one cohesive painting would disqualify it from the 3d_background tag.

I feel like mixed_media should be visually apparent, like a drawing on a photo or something. The mixed media tag might just confuse people that don't know about the 3D.

I mostly just wanted a easy way to explain why my backgrounds went from post #6199135 to post #6199086

Yeah, I don't disagree. And like, I can only speak for myself; I'm not canny enough to tell that the background of the latter pic started as a 3D render. But I also wouldn't remove it if I saw the mixed_media tag, I'd just assume that there was something I couldn't see.
