Topic: How do I grow on E621/Twitter as a NSFW artist?

Hi all! I apologize for the silly question!
I'd like to get more eyes on my posts, but...! I don't post frequently enough as I draw NSFW very sporadically and I don't want to toss SFW art to the side in pursuit of drawing monster dicks on cute ocs!
I also wonder if it is because I'm a lot less experienced/honed as an artist...I'm still a newbie, despite drawing for like coming up to 9 years now.

I think that a lot of NSFW artists that get a lot of engagement here if they have an established following elsewhere! But I don't know how to build much of an audience with how infrequently I post!

So I'm really looking for ideas on how to grow in this sense, hehehe...! So please give me advice! It'd mean a lot! Thank you!

For growth, I think it’s important to try to post somewhat regularly. If you don’t have finished pieces, you can share simple/quick sketches with or without color, work-in-progress shots, or small spoiler of the artworks you’re currently working on.

hi, i have experience with both platforms for half-a-decade and learnt mostly through experiences, observations, and advices particularly for twitter, here's my pseudo survival kit:

• to garner more attention on e6, you'll have to tag VERY specific attributes (nouns to adjectives) to the post (see the striped pink shirt? tag striped_shirt and pink_shirt - which automatically implicates each layer of tags that to give you less hassle). your posts may get favs further.
• have or find the niche/tantalizing subject. there are many people that like, uh, vore and watersports for example. there is a rabbit hole of much, much more in a depths of darkness

twitter and anywhere else really

• posting tweets on twt is like playing minesweeper - certain keywords, links, and amount of hastags will affect your post performance - for the worse. the best bet is having small phrases, symbols, or none. a single word will get you more if algorithm likes you than a paragraph of text with 20 hastags.
• as an extremely small account with no helping hands, your best bet is posting 2 hastags minimum (most convenient like #furry/#furryart and/or #nsfw and nothing else)
• ditto to what notevilfox said
• perhaps try giving crossposting everywhere you see it fits a shot - this includes having bluesky, furaffinity, newgrounds, etc. there are many pupils that are exclusive in one of these platforms. have a link organizer like linktree or carrd... or collide in a row in a pinned post.

in general, artistically every platform appears to enjoy - but not limited to - the sense of believable/realistic anatomy (head can be an exception lol), dialogue, and bonus being animated but it depends really. there's a lot of room for improvement, and i'll take it from someone's words as "being influenced by other artists is a normal part of the creative process and more or less necessary to grow as an artist"

I would have to practice anatomy a lot...! I think it's a bit of a weakness of mine hehehe but I believe in myself!

Ever since my speed boost in doodling FreeHand instead of vectors,
I been doing a lot of fanart and noticed a HUGE jump in engagement since.
My tip would be to make some fanart, Dood!
