Topic: tags keep getting deleted

Posted under e621 Tools and Applications

I keep trying to find ways of crediting the commissioners of the art as well as the artists, but i notice that no matter how i try, any tag by the name of "grannybase" gets sniped by somebody. At first, I tried a copyright tag because there weren't any contributor tags at the time and didn't know what else to do. That got deleted (then brought back for a while?). Then i tried it under the contributor tags, and it recently got deleted again (Grannybase_(commissioner).

I suspect that it's mostly due to commissioners not being seen as relevant towards the creating of art, but without them, certain art wouldn't exist to begin with, and the artists that make said art wouldn't be able to do it as often without the extra support. Otherwise, I feel like it's more of a personal gripe with grannybase and the art from it within the community that handles tags. While this is speculative, I've noticed that many of the other commissioner contributor tags have gone undeleted on my other posts, which does not boost my confidence.

Ultimately, my goal on this site is preservation of art, and the people connected to it. So seeing this issue is somewhat upsetting for me

The best way to credit a character owner, is on the character's wiki page. That way anyone interested in the character can easily see more about them, including who came up with them. It also has more space to add things like more information about that character, link to the owner's page(s) where they post a lot of their character's art, etc.

How about putting this info in the description? As long as it's relevant to the picture and not rambling blog-tier nonsense, it should be fine I think.

To clarify, we don't allow commissioner or character owner tags. They will be promptly removed and invalidated if it gets repeatedly added (see the tags aliased into invalid_tag).
These tags serve no practical function whatsoever other than to credit who paid for the artwork, which is not the main purpose of the tags on the site which focuses on the visual elements in the artwork itself (see TWYS).

The contributor category is a relatively new addition to the site and only recognises creative contributors, specifically voice actors and character modelers only, so the commissioners/character owners would never fit in this category as well.

If you still want to credit the commissioners/character owners, you are advised to do so in the description of the posts.
Specific character owner credits for individual character tags may be added in the tag wikis for them.
