abuse_mention doesn't sound like a good tag, let alone imply abuse without any visible abuse occurring or having occurred. degradation also doesn't sound like it's always abuse, if it's some form of dirty talk that they both get off on (calling someone a slut is a form of degradation, even when it's not causing harm to the character). Rape face and imminent_rape don't necessarily depict abuse, the former only being a facial expression and the latter indicating rape/abuse is imminent but not yet occurring. threatening_* tags also sound like they don't necessarily depict abuse, just a character saying they're going to or might do something irrespective of any visual cruelty or violence.

forced is related to activity a character isn't consenting to, but isn't necessarily abuse. e.g. forced_transformation, which implies forced, only means a character is transforming against their will, not necessarily them being treated cruelly or with violence.

deception and taunting don't necessarily show abuse either, nor does humiliation.

off-topic, but the rape_face wiki is kinda nonsense:

A "rape face" is a satirical label applied to images containing more than one character, in which one character has a wild-eyed, extremely aggressive leering expression.

Note that it is not at all required that said picture be on the subject of rape, or even have an erotic theme; as a joke tag, it can seemingly be placed anywhere.

Soo... you can tag it wherever you want cuz it's just a "joke tag", but you can't tag it on solo posts because... the joke wouldn't be funny anymore?

The thing about implications is that they have to apply in 100% of circumstances. This is (relatively) easy to determine for objective physical features, but it's extremely hard to determine for abstract concepts like this. Not everyone agrees on what constitutes abuse, and the wiki description isn't terribly helpful since it's so bare-bones.

Personally, I define abuse to require an element of entrapment; the abuse victim is unable to leave the abusive relationship (at least not without significant consequences). This is the case for e.g. children who are dependent on family members, spouses who are dependent on their partners, employees who are dependent on their income, etc. (This is difficult to determine under TWYS since it often requires external information or a prolonged situation, but that's another conversation.) Under this definition, I wouldn't consider any of these to be automatically abuse (except maybe extortion, but that's a vaguely-defined one). Deception, blackmail, violence, and even more extreme things like rape can simply be isolated actions with no indication of abuse.

Yeah, I don't like it either. I'm not sure what should be done with it, though.

Not sure about these:

  • create implication cruelty (1090) -> abuse (4170)
  • create implication imminent_tentacle_rape (516) -> abuse (4170)
  • create implication brainwashing (3601) -> abuse (4170)
  • create implication deception (348) -> abuse (4170)

I can see them being abuse, but not all the time. Especially these three:

  • imminent_tentacle_rape implies that it is going to happen, not that it is happening, therefore nothing is happening at the moment. In addition, tentacles often aren't creatures that'd consider abuse in the first place.
  • deception is the concept of lying, lying in it's self isn't inherently abuse.
  • brainwashing is often a fetish, rather than abuse.

I'm not entirely sure about cruelty, but that tag sounds like it might be able to be applied to willing individuals? I could be wrong though.

mind_control also doesn't sound like it's always abusive, since it doesn't say anything about the state of the controlled character or if any harm is being done to them. It can be willing, or is often unknown how the controlled character feels about it.

Can I request a BUR with only the first 3 lines of BUR #12824?
I want these aliases but I don't agree with the rest.

You probably can since they seem simple enough and don't seem to be in conflict at the moment.
Just list this same thread as the forum topic for the BUR so things don't get splintered away.
