That's really neat. If a user with a linked artist tag posts on one of their artworks that someone else posted, does it show a check mark or is that just for artist-uploaded posts?

I think the checkmark is just for art the artist themselves uploaded. Some people who have commissioned or did edits of my have work uploaded them, but they don't have the checkmark since I didn't upload it.

the artist verified checkmark shows up on comments regardless of uploader.
