Species: mongoose
A Mongoose is a member of the family Herpestidae, a family of small, cat-like carnivores native to Eurasia and mainland Africa. They are placed in suborder Feliformia, together with other species such as the hyena, and viverrid.
Some species of mongoose are well known for being one of the few mammals with special mutations making them immune to snake venom. This makes several of them, such as the Indian grey mongoose, well known hunters of venomous snakes such as the cobra.
