The Fox and the Crow is a fable by Aesop, serving as a cautionary tale on the reliance of flattery. It tells the story of a hungry fox who tricks a crow into dropping a piece of cheese by giving praise to her voice and beauty. The earliest known versions of it, both in Greek and Latin, date back to the 1st century.

Alternatively, the title also refers to a series of animated shorts produced by Screen Gems in the 1940s, featuring a similar duo created by Frank Tashlin. The characters for these cartoons are named Fauntleroy Fox and Crawford Crow, respectively, in the comic books published by DC Comics.
