e621:halloween mode script (locked)
We have decided to release a userscript/extension to enable Halloween Mode (used on e621 on Halloween of 2012) at any time.
Support is minimal, and the script is not guaranteed to work in the future.
Opera
1. Ensure you have selected a User Javascript folder: Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Content > JavaScript Options > User JavaScript folder.
2. Save this file to the aforementioned folder, rename it to e621_halloween.js and visit e621.net.
Note: User Javascript will not run when using HTTPS unless you enable it by visiting opera:config#UserPrefs|UserJavaScriptonHTTPS in a new tab and enabling it.
Firefox
Click this link to install the script. Greasemonkey is required.
Chrome
1. Save this file somewhere on your computer.
2. Go to Tools > Extensions and drag the downloaded file into the extensions tab to install it. Do not just click the link to install it, you must save the file and drag it into Chrome.
Triggering Effects
The Halloween mode "special effects" will occur randomly, but if you wish to manually trigger each effect (maybe you've missed one or two so far), add the following text after any URL (the main /post page is going to be best for most of these). Example: http://e621.net/post/index?effect=scarypictures
?effect=scarypictures - Makes a random "scary" image briefly flash on your screen.
?effect=corruptmypage - Randomly converts standard text to zalgo text (if your browser doesn't support this you'll just see squares) and breaks images
?effect=thumbchanger - Thumbnails are changed to http://e621.net/post/show/171514
?effect=addstatic - Adds static to the site's background
?effect=addblood - Blood drips down from the top of the site
?effect=rotateheader - The navigation at the top of the site tilts
?effect=fadeoutbody - The page you're on begins to "flicker"
