Series: Mickey Mouse in Death Valley

The first serious adventure arc in the Mickey Mouse comic strip, which artist Floyd Gottfredson took over partway through, starting a long tenure that lasted until 1975. This arc also introduces in comic form two of Mickey's enemies: career criminal and archnemesis Peg-Leg Pete (who is more muscular and has a tail compared to his later, better known appearance) and crooked lawyer Sylvester Shyster.
