Topic: Anyone else not have many favorites?

Posted under General

Checking out other users here, I noticed that I seem to be a bit strange. I treat my liked list like my favorites list. I always felt like I had to save my favorites for the posts that truly deserve to be there.

Currently, my favorites list is 4 pages and my liked list is 10 pages. And I keep going to the liked list first.

Just curious if anyone else is this conservative with their liked/favorites lists.

Also yes, I've been on this site daily for 11 years and only have 708 liked posts and 263 favorites.

Not really here but I've had that mindset on other sites. Especially if there's a way to separate images into different groupings such as sets. I tend to go back and forth between that and a looser attitude depending on the website.

I tend to favorite only few pieces per artist or if something else makes the piece exceptional.
Or if I want to come back to it for art references/inspiration.
I got 42 favs, 19 upvotes since 2020 (I forget to upvote). But I also had several year gap that I wasn't active here

I could always create themed sets for more organization

After 16 years on the site, I only have maybe 3 pages worth of Favorites.

I use Sets most of the time. My favorites are super curated, and usually stuff that I find funny rather than just hot/good art.

Yeah I don't collect favorites much. I find I tend to prefer finding stuff I like again.

Since I download all the posts I personally like, I use the favorites and upvotes to track what I've already downloaded. re621 made this even easier since it let me set hotkeys for downloading and faving an image. I found that in 2020 or so, so my fav count would've started blowing up around then xP it took me a bit over 6 years to hit the 80k fav limit at the end of 2023, but now favs + sets is around 300k "favorited" images for me lol

~13 years on the site, 278 favs. It feels like too many but I don't think i've ever unfaved anything, i've tried but they still feel like solid picks.

Otherwise I have a bunch of sets for things I like that there is no tag for but I don't consider those favorites.

I checked out your favorites and found a new favorite artist (Sijimmy456)

No favorites, no likes. The system isn't private enough. Anyone can get an account and see what you're into.

It's also a bit of a contrarian response to the tendency of some folks to like and favorite seemingly everything that gets posted here.

I use my favorites to showcase the best safe Braixen art I've come across.
Everything that I like gets downloaded.

Nobody else can see what you've voted on. You can disable favorites being shown to others as well.
Moderators can still see both though, and I wouldn't be surprised if everything you look at is being logged somewhere regardless of if you vote/favorite it.

Yeah, the search syntax for that can be a bit misleading.

voted:me + voted:you + voted:whoever_else all resolve to the votes of the currently logged in user, you (whoever is reading this). So the parameter is really just a placeholder. Maybe it does something if you're a mod?

All correct. Now, combine that with the realities of privacy, extremism, artificial intelligence, surveillance, and future quantum computing.

For me, it's not worth it for the brief gratification of clicking an up arrow or documenting my favorites.

Tbh i only have very fews, it mostly fanart of my oc anyway but still not even 10 favorites enough. Even though i do check people drawing simply with alot of tabs for each artists so ill check when they would post eh?

Your position still does not make sense to me.
If views are being recorded no matter what you do (which is an assumption on my part), then why make an account at all? Surely the posts you click on are somewhat aligned with your interests even if you don't vote/favorite.
The truly paranoid way to use the site would be to download everything as an anonymous user (don't do this) using some sort of IP obfuscation in a trusted country and deleting the files you didn't want. That way you just look like a bot to anyone trying to analyze you.

I use favourites for stuff I love, such as big buff men from my favourite video games and franchises.

That's fine. Explaining myself to your satisfaction isn't worth hijacking someone else's thread over.

Wait, you could view your likes?

Anyway I only have a few more than 50 favorites. Often when I see a really good picture I feel pressured to put it into my favorites but I don't want to feel that when I look at that gallery so I just skip it.

Yep, search votedup:Dappe

Strangely, you can type anything after the : and it will still show only your liked posts.

You can also search with voteddown in case you want to ruin your mood. But unfortunately, you can't blacklist that.

I use my favorites and sets extensively because I just like a lot of stuff and want to keep things organized in specific ways, though I am taking a long time to go through those posts to see if I still like them or not. After I learned that both favorites and sets have max capacities, I have been more critical on what I keep track of, much to my dismay. It stinks but there are good reasons for it and is probably for the best that I don’t break the bank on posts that are more minor and dilutes the waters for better works.
