Where do you draw the line what is a dragon?
species in question:

I've had this conundrum before with my sona tiena_(character), as he's an amalgamation of furred_dragons and aspects that I liked in other animals.
Later I made the character into its own species feather_maned_dragon
Visual similarities between my species and dragons is the tapering tail, genital slit, feet and snout shape. But especially in feral form they resemble canines.

The species name is a play with maned wolves and komodo dragons. But they aren't dragons from mythology similar how komodo dragons aren't either.

Is it valid to tag my species as a furred dragon?
As the creator I have bias when it comes to TWYS, though the use of furred_dragon tag seems rather vague.
I'd like to hear other's opinions.

Examples of similar designs tagged as furred_dragon:

Edit:
I found out that there was similar topic about Felkins: topic #60957
I'd say that feather_maned_dragon shouldn't imply furred_dragon, but it's subjective whether a post should be marked as one.

TWYS is only strictly applied to tags in the general category, character tags and species are TWYK within reason
As long as what you're tagging doesn't actively conflict with what can be seen, it's more or less fair game

Tag What You See:

  • Tags in the Character and Species categories are partially dependent upon TWYS: that is, external information can be used to help identify what character or species is supposed to be depicted in the post in cases where it isn't obvious, but it cannot actively conflict with what is seen in the post. For example, you can tag character a if the artist claims that a disembodied hand in the post belongs to character a, unless the hand looks nothing like character a and instead looks exactly like it belongs to character b. In that case, TWYS overrides the artist's word.

Thanks!
I missed that section, I only read "Help: Tag What You See" (https://e621.net/help/twys)
