Topic: What would it be like to be faceless?

Posted under General

I've seen a lot of faceless furry characters, and I genuinely wonder what it would be like to be faceless myself. It is one of my desires to be a furry/scaly character that is faceless.
What would it really, physically be/feel like to not have a face(or featureless face)?

Edit: I was honestly thinking something like this;

Try searching "faceless" on e621 or furrafinity to get a better idea of what I mean.

How would you breathe? Ever seen that Black Mirror episode where that psycho uses it to torture people? I did once read a YA novel where a villain executed people by mutating their mouth and nose to close and suffocate them.

Other than that, you could wear a balaclava as the next closest thing. I like to do that when the weather permits, which is not often since it's really hot here. It helps with dysphoria and social anxiety. Or you could sign up to be a Helldiver.

Can you give an example? I can't remember seeing many faceless characters, other than Anon here.

And on how it'd feel, i imagine something like "Suffocation, no breathing."

The inability to see, smell, and eat via normal means are all entirely guaranteed. You'd basically have to interact with the world like a plant does. Plants are usually entirely static, though, so a plant-like "person" would need some kind of alternate sense to map out 3D space (sounds, subtler non-sound vibrations, heat-sensing organs, psychic ability.)

Plants do have light reception, odor reception, and detect vibration, but rather than discrete organs which receive light from specific directions, they have specific proteins that react to specific wavelengths of light.

Taking as few assumptions as possible, a plant-like person would likely have some kind of 360° vision that comes at the cost of sub-eyeball ability to recognize specific patterns or details.

At minimum, a mobile plant person would probably at least be accurate enough to pick out sources of water and nutrients, else from an evolutionary perspective they don't make sense at all.

Play Quake with 360° field of view and do absolutely everything you can to lower the texture quality (including reducing the actual game resolution.) That is how you, as a faceless biped, would interact with the world.
