This is exactly what I was thinking, it seems like equine tails are either the horse-hairy type:

I don't think equine_tail is an ideal alias target if it's a broader description, since the ideal goal is to describe what the tail looks like, rather than an actual taxonomic categorisation of the tail.

How about “hair tail”? It doesn’t seems to be animal specific

Aside from confusion with ponytails and other hairstyles, I think this phrasing might lead to problems with realistic horse tails that show bare docks and/or shorter hair at the base.
