So far, all of the commissions I have uploaded so far were from artists who don't have an account here. Should I leave the artist information blank? I'm certainly not going to take credit for something I didn't draw

Most stuff uploaded here is not uploaded by the artist. You should always tag the artist.
If you have to make a new tag, you can do so. Either enter artist:<name> with <name> being replaced entirely by the actual artist's name (if unique, otherwise suffix it with something to differentiate it from others) or use the tags page to change the type afterward.

None of them have accounts here. Nor could they really assist me in crediting them.
These were artists who contacted me first and asked if I had a commission in mind. I'm stopping that since I know most of them scammed me
When you say "artist information", what exactly do you mean? Are you referring to adding a tag for the artist on a post, or filling up their page with URLs to their profiles? Or something else

I'm getting a few pieces redone by real artists, not scammers. So a few are destined to be replaced anyway

While uploading, it asks for the artist. None of them have accounts here, so I didn't know if I could leave that section blank

You can just write the name of the artist in that field. If you see that they don't have any other posts here, then if you add art: to the front of their name, that'll mark them as an artist. For example, if the artist's name is john1, then you can write art:john1

A user account is not the same as an artist tag. One is when you actually register for an account using an email while the other is simply a type of tag that is used to credit the artist.
You should never try to upload a post without tagging the artist, unless they are unknown or anonymous.
If you are asking if you should add in additional information into thr artist tag's wiki or the artist's wiki, that is recommended though completely optional.

I wrote down in one of them that the artist doesn't have an account here, and I left the information pending because he never responded back

If you are talking about post #6105613, it would help immensely if you could properly source where you had gotten it from.
If it was never posted anywhere else online, then tell us more about the artist's name, where they post to, profile links outside of e621, etc.
Please tag the artist. Always. Not tagging an artist is one of my peeves as a Janitor. If the artist hasn't been tagged here before, please feel free to make the tag. If you don't know the artist, tag unknown_artist. If the artist doesn't want to be credited, tag anonymous_artist. But please tag the artist.
An artist doesn't need an account here to be tagged. Edmond Hedouin and Louis le Breton certainly don't have accounts but get tagged anyway.
Filling out an artists wiki is helpful and appreciated but not mandatory. I daresay a good chunk of artist wikis aren't filled out.

I tried to add the artist name to the post that was linked and it came up with an error message

Is the artist name imma? I'm just guessing based on the edit history of the post.

Actually, I realized imma is on this site, but he told me that's not him. He goes by Imma IV on other sites. That seems to work now.

The artist FINALLY got back to me and provided a link to his account here. Imma IX. I tried adding the artist tag, but I got an error message

What is the error message exactly? Because I can see you have already successfully added the artist tag.

I'd bet 99.9% it was about being unable to implicitly change the category of an existing tag (another user manually changed it)
Implicit category changes can only be done when the tag doesn't exist, or by janitor+ when the tag has less than 100 posts

Idk how it suddenly got added. I had been following the process of adding it from earlier

If it was an existing tag, it has to be edited from the Tags section. Tags over 100 posts only display | history to the right, but tags with less say edit | history instead. "Edit" lets you swap the tag's category.
If a tag has more than 100 posts and you want to change the category, you'll have to request a BUR to enter the script category <tag> -> <category>

Wait hang on... are you saying you've been uploading stuff that was "made" "by" "people" who contacted you directly to advertise their services to you?
Because, bro, hate to break it to you, but ONE HUNDRED percent of the people who do that shit are scammers. Even the ones who actually did send you something. Those ones just used AI, which is against the rules here (and, frankly, if it was made by actual scammers, e6AI probably doesn't want it either although I don't think they have a rule against it).

I already know that. I'm having a few remade by actual artists. I was naive last year, my friends have opened my eyes and I'm never doing that again.
