Topic: A pool based rating system

Posted under Site Bug Reports & Feature Requests

There should be a pool based rating system that applies to all linked pages.

A pool based rating prevents this problem when discussing acts from previous pages in the pool suddenly becoming an inappropriate comment penalising users for legitimate discussion.

If a story is in a pool they should all have a context based rating matching eachother. Users know the themes of what they are reading but the current rating system doesn't.

If you are concerned about the Inappropriate Comments rule where it says "Do not create comments that exceed the post's rating.", I do not believe people would randomly get slapped for discussing explicit details from the previous pages, though correct me if I am wrong.

The rule is mainly in place to stop people from posting creepy comments in general as well as bringing up inappropriate & completely unrelated topics on mainly SFW posts.

We'd also probably just change our rules to not punish users for doing this instead; no real need to go to the extreme of changing how posts are rated; can you imagine the headache for pools where only 1 post should be rated explicit but the uploader didn't notice, & thus rated them all incorrectly?

I'll also say that this specific edge case happens so infrequently that I don't even know if it's staff policy to already account for this as I haven't come across it yet myself; there's a chance it is, but it's likely that we might not want that in service of users who might be stumbling across this page without having seen the other ones (a very frequent occurrence on imageboards like this), & therefore have no knowledge of any explicit context.
