What happened is I accidently uploaded a duplicate of a drawing that was uploaded by someone else months ago. I flagged this post for deletion but instead the old upload was deleted with the favs being transferred. But the comments and score were deleted in the process.

The old version was an inherently lossy .jpg from your BlueSky, which means it can be no larger than 2000 pixels on the longest dimension. Your version is a lossless .png you, the artist, uploaded, which is larger in size than the old version. Yours was the superior version, so it was kept.
When Manitka deleted the old version, she has three toggable options: transfer Favorites, merge tags, and merge sources. Unfortunately, there is no way to transfer the score or the comments over when the pictures are two different posts. Had yours been submitted as a replacement for the old version, then you would have been able to keep the score and comments on the picture.
However, deletion doesn't mean the post is removed from the server. It just means the picture is hidden from everyone except staff. The comments and score are still visible, though obviously the trick is finding the post again. Which you can do by searching mechaclank status:deleted.
The version you uploaded was of higher quality and so would be preferred when deciding which duplicate to keep.
In the future you can ask an admin for replacement perms if you want to preserve the comments under your works, since replacing the image keeps the original post.

That would technically be possible, but I don't think the admins have done this kind of replacement post-deletion before.
e621:Replacements works differently from e621:flag for deletion, but it does require the original post to be active and not deleted already.
Regardless, if you have issues with this deletion, you may ask one of the admins (e.g., @Rainbow_Dash) for assistance.

No, there are two issues here
- deleted posts are not replaced, no one is going to undelete a post just to replace it
- you've already uploaded it as a new post, any replacement would be a duplicate and literally cannot2 be made
This is a booru, not an art gallery
We intentionally do not take requests like this

Votes usually come back easily, but if you really want to give other people an opportunity to look at the comments from the old post, you can link it a comment of your own. Sure, people can check the event log themselves to get the link, but without being tipped off it's unlikely they'll check to begin with.
