Topic: Advice for getting the best quality upload from an X/Twitter source

Posted under General

I've had a number of my uploaded posts replaced in the past for not being the highest image quality that they could've been, so I want to make sure going forward that anytime I try to post my favorite gay furry porn, I do it RIGHT. I'm currently looking at uploading some images I can only find on X/Twitter (At least not behind a paywall), and I just want some advice on how I can get the best quality from the source when uploading to the site. I've been looking through the howto sites and sources so I do understand that X isn't the best place to source images from, but like I said, it's the only place I can find these images. Any help is appreciated.

I notice that it says that direct uploads are whitelisted on that list, but when I put in the link into the upload pages URL box, it says that that uploads from twitter aren't permitted because it's not whitelisted, and looking at the list of whitelisted URL's, X.com isn't there. It seems inaccurate for the howto:sites and sources page to say that X.com is whitelisted, when that doesn't seem to be the case.

The url that's whitelisted is the one that's used for direct image links (https://pbs.twimg.com/media/*), not the one that's used for posts (https://x.com/*).

Oh I see, twimg means "Twitter Image" That's what was confusing me. Though now I have another issue (Just full off those today) I put in the twimg link I copied from the source image from twitter, (While changing the size parameter from the image resolution to "Orig") And it's failing to preview on the upload page, but when I copy the link into the search bar the image shows up just fine. Is this an issue I should be worried about, or is this one of the instances of sites not allowing images they host to be displayed, as the warning says?

Once you enter the pbs.twimg.com link in the Uploads page > URL field, it should display a preview of the image. Here is an example of a pbs.twimg.com url that should show an image preview:
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FiLtEmtWYAQx6y0?format=jpg&name=orig

If it doesn't show a preview, you can try copy and pasting the URL again on the field. On my end, it's an issue with using selenium's send_keys and the link validating script reading the URL every keystroke instead of the whole URL.

If it still does not display a preview, does it show any message below the field?

Example: Uploads from [site.domain] are not permitted. Reason given: [site.domain] not in whitelist

I just tried copying and pasting that directly into the upload url area and it just gave me the same error ("The preview for this file failed to load. Please, double check that the URL you provided is correct.
Note that some sites intentionally prevent images they host from being displayed on other sites. The file can still be uploaded despite that. ") Though it is worth noting that I'm on desktop rn and I just tried doing that same thing, (putting that image link into the url space on the upload page), on my phone, and that worked. Now I have no clue what's going on. The image previews are working on my phone's browser but not my desktop.

Oh yeah and no message below other than confirming that uploads from twimg.com are permitted.

Well I went for the upload anyway and it didn't upload at full quality, damn fuckass upload gonna tank my upload limit...

Ah, Twitter/X. That can be a pain to upload from as sometimes you almost have to spam the Submit button in order to get the picture to upload from there. Twitter/X just doesn't like to play nice, sometimes. Frequently, it's less of a hassle to download the picture to your machine and then upload it from there.

Your last upload (as of this post) seems to be okay to me.
