Topic: Tag alias: arthropod_abdomen_vore -> abdomen_vore

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #79124 arthropod_abdomen_vore -> abdomen_vore is pending approval.

Reason: These two tags are both used on similar posts and overlap in 19 posts.

However, the Wiki exists only for the abdomen_vore tag, and there is no Wiki for the arthropod_abdomen_vore tag. Since the concepts represented by these two tags appear to be the same, I propose creating an alias.

I think the “abdomen_vore” tag should be the default. The reasons are that this tag is shorter and easier to type (in other words, more people are likely to enter this tag), it has been used in many posts already ( arthropod_abdomen_vore: 27 vs abdomen_vore: 72 ), and a Wiki already exists for this tag.

Ah, I found a discussion that took place on the forum in the past.

English is not my native language, so I didn't know that “abdomen” was the anatomical term for “belly.”

However, based on the actual posts, the “abdomen_vore” tag seems to be used to refer to the abdomen of arthropods. There are some posts that do not have the ‘arthropod’ tag, but these “abdomen” appear to be based on the shape of the abdomen of arthropods.

At least I can't think of any reason why it would be necessary to distinguish between “arthropod_abdomen” and non-arthropod abdomen in vore. I think “abdomen_vore” can be treated as an abbreviation for “arthropod_abdomen_vore.”

I don't think it's a higher priority to strictly distinguish between these two types than the current usage. If someone wants to tag vore related to the abdomen, they can use a tag like “belly_vore.”

Tbf, is "arthropod abdomen" really the best name we can get??? When some arthropod's dont even have the feature described.

I feel like a lot of people wouldnt get what it's for from seeing the name, especially without being on a post depicting the wiki's description. "Abdomen" in english usage isnt used exclusively for bugs, far from it.
