Topic: [REJECTED] Tag implication: cherub -> angel

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

Besides all the (very valid) stuff about KRC3 not adding a reason, I think this is an okay implication? Unless I don't know enough about my Christian mythology.

Honestly, I think angel has the same problem as demon with TWYS. It's more about the symbolism of or surrounding the character than a quantifiable species trait. Not that the tag should necessarily go away, but I don't know what you need to see to tag angel, and or what you need to see to tag cherub, and whether the latter will always include the former.

Well, is there anything currently tagged with angel that you disagree with in particular?

That's part of the issue. What does angel signify? The vast majority of the time, it's basically just a character with feathered wings and a bright/yellow halo (halo optional ), whereas membranous wings and horns will often get demon (unless it's a dragon or scalie, maybe). This post:

seems to have angel because a human has a crude halo. Is a circle above someone's head enough to turn them into an angel? Is it okay for one character with feathered wings to be tagged as an avian humanoid/hybrid while another that looks identical is an angel? Posts like

also seem a bit sus in calling the character an angel (given the shoulder straps making it look like a costume), but it has unmistakable angelic imagery... so I don't know if that should count.

post #2644228 might just be a mistag of the character angel dust, but I don't know if they're supposed to be an angel or not.

post #2604032 is apparently a character called Angel, but I don't know if they're supposed to be an actual angel or not. Relatedly, the wiki says:

Not to be confused with a lot of characters named "Angel".

which makes angel and angel_(character) seem like prime candidates for disambiguation.
