Topic: [REJECTED] Tag alias: partial_transformation -> mid_transformation

Posted under Tag Alias and Implication Suggestions

The tag alias #50940 partial_transformation -> mid_transformation has been rejected.

Reason: The name would better the other way, but given how many people use each, it should be done this way.

It could be argued that partial_transformation is for if the transformation is complete and mid_transformation is for when there is still more to go, but that sounds like TWYK not TWYS.

EDIT: The tag alias partial_transformation -> mid_transformation (forum #305727) has been rejected by @Millcore.

FWIW, the point of an alias is that people can use whichever they prefer, while ensuring users get the same/expected results regardless of which they prefer. The alias target doesn't have to be the one that's used more, if there's a better name. But otherwise, I agree. partial_transformation sounds like a transformation that didn't complete (which doesn't play nice with TWYS), whereas mid_transformation comes across more as a snapshot of an on-going transformation.

You're right on that. In fact, Partial Transformation is even a trope listed on TV Tropes.

So I'm saying no this alias for that, even if it causes difficulties with TWYS.
